The TV host, mother, and author of an inspirational book for women shares her eight insights on how to dance through the chaos.
Ask Brooke Burke how she manages to look so cool and collected while somehow balancing her extremely hectic life, and she laughs out loud. “I’m glad I’m fooling everyone, because my life is anything but easy, and it’s certainly not balanced! The truth is, if anyone saw my home life, I’m pretty sure it would look like other families’ around the world. There’s a lot of juggling to be done.” But that’s just fine with her, because Brooke—the mother of four kids and the host of TV’s Dancing With the Stars—has learned that striving for perfection is a waste of her time. “I used to be so disappointed when things didn’t go perfectly,” she says. “Now I know, all you have to do is try your best.” That’s one of the reasons Brooke wrote her book, The Naked Mom, a survival manual for mothers (and every other woman for that matter) trying to artfully keep all those balls in the air.
