Broken capillaries are commonly found on the cheeks or nose and mostly appear as small, red and pink threads under the skin’s surface. They develop when capillary walls narrow and widen too quickly, causing tiny tears in the muscle tissue walls. This, in turn, allows blood to seep out, resulting in redness. This condition can become more prominent if it’s left untreated and as you age, since your skin becomes thinner over time, says Klangbased dermatologist, Dr. Ko Chung Beng.
