‘‘I lost 30 kilograms!’’  
Once this reader discovered she could change her whole life with just a few daily tweaks, she started seeing big results.

Nicole’s challenge
Nicole knew weighing 91 kilograms wasn’t healthy, but she didn’t think she had the time to slim down. “As a single mom, I had to juggle my baby’s care and my job. So I quit taking dance classes regularly and put my weight concerns on hold.”

A glimpse of the future
Nicole was forced to face reality one day while at the park with her 4-year-old. She watched as a heavy mom unsuccessfully tried to get on the swings with her child. “I could still do things like go on the slide with my son, but that was already getting harder,” she says. “And with the way I was living, I was afraid I’d be just like that woman some day.”

Finding joy in exercise
Rather than setting aside big chunks of time for the gym, Nicole added short bursts of activity to her daily routine, like walking to the commuter train in the morning instead of taking the bus.
