DEANNA’S CHALLENGE
When Deanna quit smoking seven years ago, she developed a junk-food habit. “I’d hit the drive-through three times a day without giving it a second thought,” she says. Add to that her sedentary lifestyle and she gained 45 kilograms in four years.
HER TURNING POINT
Deanna tried several times to slim down, but had trouble sticking to a diet and exercise plan. “At 125 kilograms, I couldn’t buckle a seatbelt or climb a flight of stairs without gasping for air,” Deanna says. At a loss for a solution, she discussed gastric by pass surgery with her doctor.
