Yummy-Mummy With A Bikini Body?

We’ll show you how…

NO DOUBT, THE CHALLENGES THAT FACE WOMEN ARE MANY. It would seem, however, that one of the most daunting of challenges is “getting back into shape” after delivery, as if having a child and caring for a newborn aren’t “challenges” enough.

Before I had my two tykes—Rahul turns eight this year while Ranya turns three—I imagined that I would be as big as a house after having a baby, never mind two. (Actually, if you must know, the picture of me on this page was taken when I was eight months pregnant with Ranya, hence the head-and-shoulders shot.)

With Rahul, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I seemed to have snapped back into shape, thanks in no small measure to breastfeeding. With Ranya, however, it has been less easy, due, I guess, to age although she too was breastfed (she’s just been weaned last week).

Two-and-a-half years on, and I’m still working on losing five more kilograms to return to my pre-pregnancy weight of 66kg. That’s why I find this month’s Focus on post-natal issues so inspiring, especially the four yummy mummies featured on pages 38 through to 41.

Aside from this, the other reads that I find particularly riveting in this issue of Shape are Be your own cheerleader (page 31), Fake a walk-in wardrobe (page 52) and Jumpstart your bikini body (page 74).

As I’m certainly not someone you’d label a “fashionista”, the mix n’ match wardrobe ideas that Shape’s fashion writer, Adeline Chai has laid out for us might just help me wing it otherwise…

And to the favorite part of Shape: The gorgeous workout spreads. This month marks the first of our five-part Bikini Body series that will help you shake up your workout routine every month for killer results in five months.

Enjoy!
